Headcleaner: Text Fur Einsturzende Neubauten:
by Blixa Bargeld, contains EN lyrics, a great interview and accompanying "net of tracks," a conceptual visualization of EN songs and ideas through time. Best of all, a glow-in-the-dark cover.
Strategies Against Architecture (Strategein Gegen Architekturen) Volume I, II, II
These are required listening. Volume I is a perfect record, compiled with help from Jim "Scraping Foetus Off the Wheel" Thirlwell, it includes the early singles and unreleased cassettes from 1980-83 along with most of the B-sides from Kollaps. Volume II is a 2-disk hit-after-hit set that includes all the basics Futter Mein Ego, Seele Brent, Sand, Ich bin's, and Haus der Luge. Fans will like Volume III for it’s live and obscure tracks and B-sides but stick with I and II for the purest experience. If you haven’t heard much EN, these collections will give you the best feel for their work from the early bombast of drill and sheet-metal to the more recent studio edits.

Two-disk “quieter side” of EN. Features Pelikonal a duet between a vocal and a drill.

Ende Nue (1996) A mature combination of machine sounds and the sparest of musical elements. Put on Was Ist Ist to recall the old days and flip to Installation No. 1 for throbbing, grissly beats.

Halber Mensch (1985) Half experimental storm and half broken melody. For proof, give Das Schaben a listen.

Tabula Rasa (1993) More varied than most EN records. Most startling track is the ethereal Blume, a sexually charged lullaby by Bad Seed Anita Lane. Closes with 15-minute Headcleaner, a symphonic cacophony like no other.

Drawings of Patient O.T. (1983) Smash your head against this punk rock. Conceptually rooted in the work of artist/psychiatric patient Oswald Tschirtner, this record is driven by EN's similar compulsion to improvise in their own work.
